Karl Future

Karl Egan Biog

Although taking the new guise of Karl Future, Karl is better known for the work he did with brother Simon Egan under the name Soundscape. Together they ran DV8 Records and released a string of diverse records incorporating both anthemic vocal based hardcore and the darker sides of freeform into each release. Although short lived, DV8 became a platform for showcasing future talent and saw the first hardcore releases of Alf Bamford (Technicore/Technical) and Father (one half of Ephexis). Soundscape’s biggest hit to date is the uplifting vocal anthem ‘Someday Soon’ which was played up and down the country by all the top tier DJ’s and still finds itself creeping into DJ boxes 4 years on.

As well as co-running DV8 Records Karl has also turned his hand to promotion and started the popular event Hard Daze. In a time when hardcore was a dirty word, Karl’s determination to promote the scene he loves turned the small town of Luton into a hub of hardcore activity, bringing to the town the likes of Kevin Energy, DJ Vibes, Ethos and Impact to name a few.

Over the past decade Karl has worked with a number of established producers including Sharkey, UFO, Dave Devastate, Ephexis, Jason Air (Different Levels) and DJ Impact. In that time he has acquired an individual production style which has seen his tracks and remixes licensed to albums including ‘Hardcore Heaven 4’ (Resist), ‘Hardcore‘ (Ministry of Sound), ‘Worlds Greatest Hardcore’ (Resist) ’100 Anthems Hardcore’ (Apace) and the recent NEC offering ‘Freeformation’ (Resist) as well a number of vinyl releases from labels including Relentless Records, Hardcore collections, Hardcore Coalition, DV8 Records and FBI Recordings.

Karl’s production ethos is to go where ever the music takes him, and this can be clearly demonstrated in his tracks. Although Karl resides comfortably on the darker side of hardcore he still shows an appreciation for the euphoric infectious catchy riffs that were once his stronghold.
